FIFA 21 does not feature the "The Journey" storyline mode that was present in FIFA 17, FIFA 18, and FIFA 19.
Instead, FIFA 21 offers a story-driven experience within the VOLTA Football 21 mode called "The Debut".
Here's the storyline of "The Debut" in VOLTA Football 21:
Continuing Revvy's Journey: The story follows Revvy, a street footballer whose journey began in the previous FIFA game (FIFA 20).
São Paulo Tournament: Revvy continues their career by participating in a street football tournament in São Paulo, hosted by the legendary Kaká.
Dubai Invitation: After Revvy's team wins the São Paulo tournament, Kaká invites Revvy's teammate, Kotaro Tokuda, to captain a team in a tournament in Dubai. Revvy and the rest of the team feel a bit jealous of this invitation.
Beatriz Villanova's Plan: Beatriz Villanova, who was Alex Hunter's agent in "The Journey" mode, steps in. She sets up a series of matches for Revvy's team against other teams who are also aiming to participate in the Dubai tournament. These matches take place in various iconic street football locations around the world, including Paris, Sydney, and Milan. The agreement is that if Revvy's team wins these matches, they will secure a spot in the Dubai tournament, potentially at the expense of another team.
Invitation to Dubai: After successfully winning their matches in Paris, Sydney, and Milan, Revvy's team receives an invitation to the prestigious tournament in Dubai.
Legendary Managers: Upon arriving in Dubai, the team learns that the participating teams will be managed by legendary former footballers: Zinedine Zidane, Thierry Henry, Kaká, and Frank Lampard.
Choosing a Manager: Revvy's team gets to choose one of these legends as their manager.
Winning the Tournament: The story culminates with Revvy's team competing in the Dubai tournament. They ultimately succeed in winning, defeating Kaká's team in the final match.
Exhibition Match: As a final highlight, Revvy's team plays an exhibition match against a star-studded team consisting of the legendary managers themselves.
In summary, while FIFA 21 doesn't have a traditional "The Journey" mode focusing on a professional football career, it offers a narrative-driven experience in the VOLTA Football mode where you follow Revvy's team as they navigate the world of street football, aiming to win a major international tournament with the guidance of a legendary manager.
