• The Ascendants: A shadowy organization known as the Ascendants, led by a former student of Reika named Vincent Lichter, emerges as the primary antagonist. The Ascendants believe that the Unknown 9, enigmatic immortal figures who hold vast hidden knowledge, have kept humanity from its true potential. They seek to exploit the Fold to seize this knowledge and reshape history for their own benefit.

• The Catalyst: Vincent Lichter murders Haroona's mentor, Reika, in front of her eyes. This act sets Haroona on a path of revenge and a quest to stop Lichter and the Ascendants from achieving their dangerous goals.
